moment in time writing

This is my moment in time writing about when I had to say my speech. Something that was challenging was that we had to write in the present tense. We also had to describe the feeling instead of saying it. Another thing that we had to do was to use paragraphs.

Speech writing

Everyone is seated and waiting for my speech to start
I am sweating like crazy. I start to get my cue cards ready and in order. I shake in fear. My heart pumps so hard it feels like a drum kit. I am the first person to speak today. Then Matua Dylan says my name “Joshua you’re up”. I stand up and take to the front of the classroom. I see all these eyes just waiting for my speech to start. I can feel the sweat on my palms as I wait until Matua Dylan says I can start.

I can hear silence as I am about to start. Then I begin. In the first two sentences I can see everyone look like they were enjoying my speech which made me feel good. Their response makes me think that most of the people like my speech. I am motivated to finish it now.

I’m midway through and everyone is having a good time. There are giggles everywhere around the class. It makes me think that my speech is really good. As I keep going, I can see all of these faces turn from not being interested into being really happy. They all want to keep listening

All of the feelings that I felt before just all disappeared

I really liked the way you are trying to add more posts to your blog.
I learnt that you all had to use the present tense when writing your speeches. Did you manage to do that?
Next time I am in class I can help you to format the text so it shows in the post area.

Thank you for your positive, thoughtful, helpful comments.
Positive - something done well
Thoughtful - a sentence to let us know you actually read/watched or listened to what they had to say
Helpful - give some ideas for next time or ask a question you want to know more about
